The ‘A Future Without Fakes’ exhibit at the Royal Society’s Summer Science Exhibition 2017 was the brain child of Professors Robert Young and Utz Roedig, from Lancaster University. They had a lot of help from a very talented team!
Prof. Robert Young – Rob is an experimental physicist with a passion for developing practical applications of quantum technologies. He holds a Chair in Physics at Lancaster University, a Royal Society Research Fellow, an Adjunct Professor at IFFS (Chengdu), is the secretary of the Institute of Physics' Semiconductor Group, a committee member for the Quantum Electronics and Photonics Group, a founding member of Lancaster University's Quantum Technology Centre, and a management board member of doctoral training centre Graphene-Nownano.
Prof. Utz Roedig – Utz is Professor of Networked Embedded Systems within the School of Computing and Communications at Lancaster University. His research covers domains such as Wireless Sensor Networks, Cyber Physical Systems and the Internet of Things. He is a founding member of Security Lancaster and pursues research in the security of embedded networked devices.
Ben Astbury – Ben is studying for an MRes degree in Prof. Young’s group.
Dr Ibrahim Ethem Bagci – Ethem is a Research Associate working in the School of Computing and Communications at Lancaster University.
Christine Barthelmes – Christine is an intern working in Prof. Young’s group.
Dominika Bogusz – Dominika is an intern working in Prof. Young’s group.
Dr Yameng Cao – Yameng is a Research Associate in Prof. Young’s group.
Gordon Chapman-Fox – Gordon is Faculty Web Officer at Lancaster University
Ben Dodds – Ben is an intern working in Prof. Young’s group.

Dr Ramon Bernardo Gavito – Ramon is a Research Associate in Prof. Young’s group.
Dr Sam Jarvis – Sam is An Anniversary Lecturer in Nanoscale Materials Characterisation and Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at Lancaster University.
Prof. Roger Jones – Roger is the Head of Department for the Department of Physics at Lancaster University.
Povilas Marcinkevicius – Pov is a graduate from Lancaster’s School of Computing and Communications. He is currently working in Prof. Young’s group.
Tom McGrath – Tom is studying for a PhD in Physics under Prof. Young’s and Prof. Roedig's supervision.
Sarah Mills – Sarah is Operations Manager and Departmental Office Manager at Lancaster University.
Dr Yasir Noori – Yasir is a Research Associate in Prof. Young’s group.
Thomas Parker – Thomas is Faculty Marketing Coordinator at Lancaster University.
Georgina Plant – Georgina is an intern working in Prof. Young’s group.
Dr Alex Robson – Alex is an ERDF Technology Access Consultant in the Department of Physics at Lancaster University working in Prof. Young’s group.
Dr Ben Robinson – Ben holds a 50th anniversary lectureship in Physics and Functional Materials based within the Physics Department and the new Materials Science Institute at Lancaster University.
Hamzah Shokeir – Hamzah is studying for an MRes degree in Prof. Young’s group.
Phillip Speed – Phil has over twenty-five years experience in the information and communications technology (ICT) industry. He is technologically astute with a mix of excellent customer skills, sound business sense, a genuine interest in technology, and a healthy disrespect for the status quo.
Gillian Whitworth – Gillian is a Press Officer at Lancaster University.
Chris Woodhead – Chris is currently in the process of finishing his PhD in Prof. Young’s group.
